Race Meet at Aghadowey Oval – Photo 1 of 1
There is another exciting program of short oval racing at Aghadowey Oval this Saturday evening, August 20, at Aghadowey Oval.
The high-speed Hot Rods 2.0 will be in action in Round 2 of the Hoosier Racing Tires Challenge Series, with recently crowned World Champion Jordan Rochford of Portadown set to make his first Aghadowey appearance since winning the golden roof.
Jordan will be keen to put on a good show, as will Antrim’s recent form man Ryan McCrory.
Just a fortnight ago, Ryan picked up a decisive win in the Lee Cherry Memorial Trophy at nearby Tullyroan Oval.
Other contenders will be fellow Antrim star Conor Hughes, along with Bleary’s Drew McKeown and Broughshane’s David Kernohan.
The prestigious William Cooke Memorial Trophy for Stock Rods is also on the programme, run annually in memory of the ace engineer and former Kilrea racer.
The current holder of the handsome trophy is Crumlin’s Jonny Cardwell, and the current Irish champions will be aiming for a successful defense.
Recently crowned World Champion Colin McNiece of Banbridge and European and British Champion Mark Crawford of Nutts Corner will also be chasing glory, as will NI Points Champion Dan Shannon of Glenavy.
Kells star Shane McMillan, Cullybackey’s Marc Morrell and Ballymena prop Victor McAfee will also be in action.
Young stars aged 6-11 from Ninja Karts will pursue the Golden Helmet Award, with all-action Thunder Rods and teenagers from Junior Productions rounding out the program.
The first race leaves the grid at 6:30 p.m.
