Lonely Breakfast Scene Receives This Week’s ePHOTOzine Photo of the Week Award
Carving out a lonely figure in a dark environment, the man sits with what seems to be the only joy of this period, his breakfast. Congratulations to David Deveson for winning this week’s “Photo of the Week” award.
Lonely Breakfast by David Deveson
Carving out a lonely figure in a dark environment, the man sits with what seems to be the only joy of this period, his breakfast. The view from the windows to the rear doesn’t seem to offer much joy either, so the strong orange color of the bowl / mug is reason enough to be its focal point and is certainly a strong guide in this stunning image!
The framing of the scene is perfect, taken at table level guiding the eye along the bowl, then beyond to the evenly framed windows, which appear to be in desperate need of cleaning. The light strip coming from the window illuminating the basin in turn perfectly illuminates the man’s face.
Here is David’s description of the scene:
Early riser Eric, who lives in a hospice for HIV-positive patients, settles in for another long day of treatment, medication and boredom. This photograph was published in ‘A Day In The World’ in 2012.
All of our POTW winners receive a 64GB Samsung EVO Plus MicroSDXC card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. To have a chance to become our next POTW winner, simply upload an image to our gallery where you will also find all of our past POTW winners.
In addition, in the future, we will also announce a new winner of the “Photo of the Year” who will take home a Samsung T7 portable SSD. Each POTW winner, 52 in total, will then have their image shared in a new POTW forum where, in January 2022, we’ll ask all of you to hit the “Like” button on your favorite images. Then the ePHOTOzine team will count likes and our first “Photo of the Year” winner will be announced.
