How to Save Live Photo as Videos or GIF to Google Photos
If you are viewing the Live Photo in the Google Photos app on your Android phone, follow these steps to convert the Live Photo to video or GIF.
Step 1: Launch the Google Photos app on your Android phone.
2nd step: Open the Live Photo you want to convert to video or GIF. To verify this is a Live Photo, look for the play icon on the top photo.
Step 3: Tap the three-dot icon at the top or swipe up on the photo to open the menu.
Step 4: You will see some options under the photo. Swipe left and tap Export.
Step 5: You will be greeted by three options: Video, GIF, and Still Photo. Tap the desired option to convert the live photo to video, GIF or still photo.

How to Save Animated Photo as Video or GIF on Samsung
The Samsung Gallery app also offers the feature of save animated photos as videos or GIFs. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Launch the Samsung Gallery app on your phone.

2nd step: Open the animated photo you want to export as a video or GIF. If you are unsure if the photo is an animated photo, look for the “Show animated photo” button at the bottom. This indicates that the image is an animated photo.
Step 3: Tap the three-dot icon at the bottom of the photo and select Export from the menu.
Step 4: You will have two options to export the animated photo: video or GIF. Choose the desired option to save it. Tap the Video option to immediately convert the animated photo and save the video to your phone. You’ll find it in the Gallery app.
Step 5: Tap the GIF option to open the GIF customization screen. Here you can select the length, speed and play mode of your GIF.
- Use the scroll bar at the bottom to trim or adjust the length of the GIF.
- Tap the 1.0x speed option to increase or decrease the GIF speed.
- Tap the down arrow to play the video in forward, reverse, or round-trip direction.
Step 6: Once you’ve customized the GIF, hit save at the top to download the GIF. Also, tap the Share button to send the animated photo in GIF format to your friends via any app.
