Chilling last photo of Queensland rugby league player before death at Barcelona nightclub

League player Liam Hampson’s final movements before his death in a Spanish nightclub have been revealed in chilling CCTV footage.

Albert Guijarro, manager of the Sala Apolo nightclub where Hampson disappeared, told local media that security footage, which has now been handed over to police, recorded the 24-year-old’s entire route before the tragic accident.

The Queensland rugby league player had not been seen for 30 hours after disappearing while partying with a group of NRL players in Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Friends reportedly lost contact with the Redcliffe Dolphins player around 5.30am, prompting the public to seek help from Gold Coast Titans player AJ Brimson as well as Brisbane Broncos duo Jordan Riki and Jesse Arthars.

Hampson was found dead more than 30 hours after his disappearance.

Horrified club staff found Hampson’s lifeless body at the bottom of a hole in an outdoor area and believe he fell 10 yards to his death.

According to Mr Guijarro, Hampson went through another door and went out onto a terrace to urinate, but was then unable to re-enter because the doors were closed.

He sees that there is a 50 meter wall and jumps over it, then falls into a 14 meter hole through which the conduits pass.

Mr Guijarro said he was ‘lit all the way’ but Hampson ‘jumps to a place that’s not even in the middle of his run, it’s not clear why he’s doing that’.

He said club staff could hear a cell phone ringing as Hampson’s friends tried to locate him, but were unsure where it came from.

The Daily Telegraph reports that investigators confirmed Hampson was looking for a toilet at around 4.30am only to find himself locked out of the nightclub. He attempted to scale an adjacent wall when he fell to his death

Mossos d’Esquadra regional police say the reason it took so long to find his body is because he was in an excluded area of the club.

“It was in an interior patio which was not part of the nightclub’s public area,” the policeman told Daily Mail Australia.

“I don’t know how he would have entered that part of the building, but he got there and from there fell about 10 meters into an interior patio. The fact that it was not a public space helps explain why the workers who raised the alert did not do so until noon Wednesday local time.

It comes after a chilling last photo of Hampson was taken hours before he died.

The image, taken by a photographer at Sala Apolo nightclub, shows Hampson smiling in the background.

Riki is in the foreground of the image kissing a woman on the cheek.
