In the center of the Russian city of Tver there was a huge fire. The Central Research Institute of the Aerospace Defense Forces is reported to be on fire. The death toll in the blaze has risen to five people, TASS reported.

This institute was engaged in the development of the theory of air defense weapons, produced navigation devices, control systems, guidance and orientation of land and air vehicles.

Russian media reports that the fire started on the second floor of the building and the fire quickly spread several floors through wooden floors and voids. The staff of the scientific institution of the Ministry of Defense of Russia – more than 30 people – was evacuated.

The total area of ​​the fire was 1,000 square meters. m, fire was assigned the third complexity number. Six firefighters were dispatched to put out the fire, then a helicopter was brought in. He can pour five tons of water on the fire.

There is smoke in the city center from the fire.

As a result of the fire, the roof collapsed over the entire surface of the building. The fire engulfed three of the four floors of the Defense Research Institute building.

According to preliminary data, the emergency operation of the electrical network was the cause of the emergency, the building and the wiring were old.

According to a TASS source from the region’s emergency services, as a result of the incident, two people died, around 30 were injured, the fate of another person is still unknown. At the same time, a representative of the Tver ambulance reported 20 casualties. The Regional Directorate General of the Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed the presence of victims, without specifying their number.

According to the emergency services, some victims inhaled smoke, many were injured by jumping from the windows of the building. 14 ambulances arrived at the scene.

Subsequently, TASS, citing doctors, reported that seven people had been hospitalized, three of them in intensive care.
